Day 2

Today we learned how to do a c++ program that asks you for your name then prompts and repeats it. We also learned how to write a calculating program. We had to make it so that when one opened the program, they were asked to type in any 2 numbers and then after that if they wanted to subtract, multiply, add, or divide them. It took some time to figure out how to do it but at the end when I got it, it felt very rewarding. At the end we started to write a blackjack game. Mr Steele helped us how to make a complete deck. We had to make 4 cards of each number and each had to correspond with a suit. Then to make it easier to play we had to change the 10 to a T, the 11 to a J, the 12 to a Q, the 13 to a K, and the 14 to an A, so that we would have queens, kings and aces instead of just numbers. Overall the class was very fun and I think I learned a lot. I'm allready excited for next class when we will finish the blackjack game.

Day 3

Today we continued working on our blackjack game. We added six new functions and rewrote our whole main function in a much shorter way. Now when you start playing the game you are shown the dealers and your two beginning cards. Then you are prompted if you want to stand or hit. If you decide to stand the artificial intelligence, we created which represents the dealer, keeps on playing. But if you decided that you wanted to hit you just keep playing and keep getting asked if you want to hit or stand. We made the normal rules for blackjack apply and you keep on playing until you win or bust.

Day 4

We started out correcting the mistakes we still had in the program from last week. Then we changed the void main to  int PlayAHand. This allowed us to keep playing the game over and over. After that we wrote some code so that you could place a bet. This made the game a lot more exciting because you could actually loose or gain points. Then we made the dealers cards disappear so the player can not see what the dealers hand is. After that we were asked to make aces work. While we were trying to do that we screwed everything up. We fixed those problems and then we were asked to write a program on our own that would calculate an average grade of 2 test and 5 homework grades. Mr. Steele looked over them and when we were done he gave us an evaluation form we had to fill out and we were done.
